Light Up Football Memorabilia for Mardi Gras |

Last week while sitting on the couch reading a profile on some of the best contemporary non-fiction writers, my phone started to vibrate. After picking it up a really excited friend came through the airwaves with a big question. He wanted to know if I was down to go on a road trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this week. Living on the west coast it was a pretty serious journey covering over 2000 miles. The plan was to head straight to New Orleans and then on the way back make random stops to see what the southern states had to offer. One of his buddy’s has an 8-person van from work that they are taking.
My first question was how long they planned on going for. He didn’t have an answer and tried selling me on taking to the open road with no plans other then making Mardi Gras. It would be great to blow off work for probably a week but seems, as an economist would put it, fiscally irresponsible. Respectfully declining the offer, I suggested he pick up some Saints football memorabilia from one of the many online retailers. One such piece of football memorabilia stuck out in my mind after browsing around a sporting goods store called Olis Outdoors at http://www.route66megamall.com/. Seen in the picture above, the New Orleans Saints NFL Two-Sided Light-Up Car Window Decoration would be the perfect van ornament to have shinning as they rolled into New Orleans.
I can only imagine what locals would think of such a unique piece of Saints football memorabilia lighting up Royale Street. I know he did buy a box full of beads online to save on what street vendors have them going for. They should be getting into Louisiana sometime tonight or tomorrow. I suggested this piece of football memorabilia early last week and never followed up if he got it. My intuition says yes considering the great price and southern support they would receive flying such football memorabilia.
I have never been to the South but this Mardi Gras has got to be more insane then any of the times past. Just this morning, while watching Good Morning America, one of the hosts from New Orleans was talking about how the city has not stopped partying since the Super Bowl win. Talk about a spirited place. I want to know how huge of a football memorabilia sales spike the sporting goods stores in the area have seen.
