sporting goods, outdoors sportTentatively on the calendar for the first week of June is a road trip up north into the Cascade Mountain range where three of us plan to take a few days off, far away from the sounds of the city. I am excited to gladly turn over the whine of sirens, circling helicopters and the yells of random pedestrians for birds chirping, limbs swaying in the wind and the trickling of untouched water ways deep in the forest. I have had a lot of experience in this region of the country. The Pacific Northwest offers some of the best outdoor landscapes in the country. Since we put a date on when this road trip is rolling out, I have started to look through outdoors sport retailers like Olis Outdoors at http://www.route66megamall.com/ for ideas on things to buy for the camping adventure.

One item grabbed my attention the second it popped onto the monitor. Seen in the picture above, the Granulated Activated Carbon Replacement Filter for the KT3000 Water Filter is exactly the kind of tool a person like me would need to sample glacier stream water safely. I’m not a skilled survivalist and do not want to take any chances with ruining such a trip after getting sick from drinking ice cold natural water.

I never expected to find such a cool piece of sporting goods for such a low price. Olis Outdoors is one of those places a person could go to buy football memorabilia, World Cup gear or a water purifier. They pretty much support everything that gets us outdoors. This time of the year sporting goods is super popular. The sun is shining, weather warm and springtime bloom is in full effect. The question is what outdoors sports to do first. Until this camping adventure comes around I’m going to stick with golf, maybe some hiking and jogging under the setting sun. That is when the NBA playoffs aren’t on TV.

Sporting goods have become my number one way to stay active. My gym membership has expired so now breaking a sweat takes a little bit more creativity. I would gladly throw the pigskin around instead of putting up reps in the gym though. Outdoor air, competition and variety are what outdoors sports are all about. Hopefully doing these sorts of things will get me in better shape for the mountain hikes planned for this Cascade Mountains road trip. The switchbacks up there are unforgiving.
