My grandmother has some wonderful stories and memories associated with her baseball memorabilia. When she was younger her older sister played on an all ladies team. She used to watch her play and dream of playing herself. One of her favorite pieces of baseball memorabilia is a ball her sister hit a home run with. It is even signed. She has fond memories of the year she first played. She likes to tell stories of how it was back then.

They used to travel from town to town in an old bus. They used to play in little out of the way towns just for the fun of it. When the war was over so were the ladies teams. It was a sad time for all the ladies. They all took pieces of baseball memorabilia to remember their time when they were paid to play. My Grandmother still has her team shirt.  I love hearing her stories. I bring her great grandchildren to listen to her memories and get to know their heritage. I hope they grow to treasure them like I do. It is a point of pride in for our family that she played ladies baseball.
